In Memoriam: Michael Jackson
by Mark Roesler on Jun.25, 2010, under News
June 25 marks the one-year anniversary of Michael Jackson’s untimely death. Christened with the honorific title “King of Pop,” Jackson transformed the music industry with his best selling albums, revolutionary dance techniques, and magnanimous personality. His highly publicized personal life and enigmatic persona enthralled people worldwide and he became a global figure in our popular culture.
Like Hollywood icon James Dean, Jackson grew up in Indiana, the headquarters of CMG. Back in 1997, Michael asked a mutual friend for a good book about James Dean, so CEO Mark Roesler sent him a copy of “James Dean: American Icon.” Michael was understandably mesmerized by Dean and the legacy he left behind. It was James Dean who said, “If a man can bridge the gap between life and death, I mean live on after he has died, then he was a great man.” Similarly, Jackson said, “Music has been my outlet, my gift to all of the lovers in this world. Through it, my music, I know I will live forever” (Monroe, Bryan, “Michael Jackson in His Own Words,” Ebony, December 2007).
Even though neither of them made it pass the age of 50, Michael Jackson is continuing to live on in the same vein as the legendary James Dean. Throughout his career, Jackson paved the way for modern pop music with his distinctive vocal style and musical sound and he continues to posthumously influence artists today. Future generations will always remember the “King of Pop” as a “Great Man.”

DWTS: Pamela Anderson Bids Adieu
by Mark Roesler on May.05, 2010, under News
In the words of NFL star Chad Ochocinco, “Dancing With the Stars” is “losing a lot of sexiness” after Tuesday’s elimination of buxom beauty Pamela Anderson.
But even more than that, DWTS is losing an outstanding performer whose dedication and commitment to dancing captured the attention of audiences around the world.
After being voted off last night along with her professional dance partner, Damian Whitewood, the actress, model and animal rights activist received a standing ovation from the crowd.
“This has been one of the best experiences of my life – and that says a lot. I’ve had a lot of good experiences,” said Anderson.
During the season, Anderson danced into the limelight with her spot-on characterization of the iconic Marilyn Monroe and Dolly Parton. She even won plenty of positive remarks from the judges.
Judge Bruno Tonioli had this to say about her, “Pamela is probably the best performer on the show … The truth of the matter is that her performances are so focused, she’s so honest, it’s brilliant. She acts the part … dance is not just a series of steps, it’s a performing art … She’s quite good.”
Anderson, along with the eliminated contestants all contributed to making the 10th season of “Dancing With the Stars” have one of the biggest audiences yet.
The five remaining dancers include Erin Andrews, Niecy Nash, Chad Ochocinco, Nicole Scherzinger and Evan Lysacek. The winner of the current series will be revealed at the end of this month.
“The best dancers are going to win. They are going to win in the end. I’m going to rest. … I’m going to the beach,” Anderson said on “Good Morning America” today.

DWTS: Team Pam
by Mark Roesler on May.03, 2010, under News
We’re just hours away from tonight’s performances on week 7 of “Dancing With the Stars” and there’s one competitor who stands out among the rest—the one and only Pamela Anderson.
Pam’s grace and charm has earned high esteem from judge, Bruno Tonioli. He had this to say about the sultry bombshell and animal rights activist: “Pamela is probably the best performer on the show … The truth of the matter is that her performances are so focused, she’s so honest, it’s brilliant. She acts the part … dance is not just a series of steps, it’s a performing art … She’s quite good.”
Tonight Pam, along with her professional dance partner Damian Whitewood, will be dancing a Waltz in addition to a group challenge dance which will be the “Cha Cha Cha.” The scores for the group challenge will be added onto the individual scores.
However, Pamela can’t make it to the top three alone. Fifty percent of the score is from fan votes, so please cast your vote!
You can vote for Pam a total of six times. Here’s how:
1. Phone 800-VOTE4-11 (800-868-3411) (Phone lines will open at the top of each performance and will stay open for 30 minutes after the end of the show).
2. Text (AT&T customers only) the word “vote” to 3411 (Text lines will open at the top of each show and will stay open for 30 minutes after the end of the show).
3. Go online to vote at: http://cdn.abc.go.com/shows/dancing-with-the-stars/vote (Online voting will remain open until 11am (Eastern Time) the next day).
Now, it’s up to you. Please help Pam make it into the finals!
